Brisbane's Boom Boom Room reopens with a turbocharged late-night dining and live entertainment program

Brisbane’s iconic dining and nightlife destination Boom Boom Room will make a dramatic return on Friday 6th March with a heightened late-night vibe, turbocharged live entertainment and showstopping modern Asian street food flavours.

After a short break comes a big comeback, as the much-loved underground venue by Ghanem Group Hospitality reopens with an amplified, music-fuelled experience that shifts from early-evening supper club cool and burlesque performances, to high-energy, late-night cocktail venue atmosphere, with resident and guest vinyl DJs playing well past midnight.

Friday and Saturday evenings begin with chilled DJ sets and multi-instrumentalist grooves, building into live soul and jazz performances and burlesque shows, before closing with an after-dark DJ-driven finale. It’s one seamless, music-led progression through genres and eras, layered with diverse live acts.

Thursdays introduce an all-vinyl ritual – after-work drinks and dinner set to curated vinyl sessions that ease into an intimate late-night listening lounge.

The culinary offering is equally dynamic. The menu explores modern Asian dining inspired by the street food cultures of Japan, China, Vietnam, Thailand, Korea and Indonesia and the travels of Executive Chef Jake Nicolson and Head Chef Lyndon Tyers. Each dish is considered for the texture, colour and experience it brings to the table.

The result is a menu designed for sharing and late-night grazing, heroing ‘Big Snacks and Small Plates’ such as Fried Soft Shell Crab Bao Bun with Kimchi and Chilli Mayo, elevated takes on Boom Boom Room’s much-loved Yakitori, and Steamed Lobster Sui Mai with Ginger and Lemongrass broth poured theatrically from a clear glass teapot.

These give way to mains including Rendang Beef Curry, Thai-Style Green Chicken Curry and BBQ Whole Barramundi with Chilli, Nuoc Cham and Fresh Herbs, alongside sides such as Green Mango Salad with Crispy Shrimp and Thai herbs, and Spicy Peanut Soba Noodle Salad. To finish, desserts include Korean Deep-Fried Milk with Strawberries and Chocolate Fondue, and Matcha Affogato with Vietnamese Coffee Gelato.

Cocktails bring their own sense of theatre. ‘Bold & Boozy’ creations draw inspiration from icons of rock and rhythm, including the Fire Starter with Grey Goose, Mandarin, Verjuice and Thyme. ‘Fun & Funk’ signatures like Cosmic Girl – Umeshu, Jasmine, Plum and Lemon – lean into playful nostalgia. The ‘Sour & Zesty’ selection nods to pop divas such as Beyoncé, Lady Gaga, Rihanna and Taylor Swift, with Rude Boy blending Patron Reposado, Lime Citrate, Strawberry & Champagne Granita and Orange Zest. Meanwhile, ‘Bubbles No Troubles’ celebrates one-hit wonders – bright, effervescent and unapologetically joyful.

Ghanem Group Music and Entertainment Manager Michael Watt said: “The new Boom Boom Room is designed for guests who want something more immersive than a bar and more personal than a nightclub – a multi-dimensional music experience layered with exceptional dining.”

“We’ve curated an evening that evolves naturally, feels vibrant and distinctly Boom Boom Room.”

Ghanem Group Head Chef Lyndon Tyers added: “We’ve taken everything our guests love about Boom Boom Room and elevated it. This isn’t a small change – it’s a full transformation. Modern Asian street food energy meets supper club sophistication, delivered with a bigger boom.”

When the doors reopen, expect a space that sings louder, stays later and delivers more impact – a bolder underground icon ready to reclaim its place in Brisbane’s nightlife. Media Enquiries: Sass Communications Director, Rachel Lebihan | rachel@sasscomms.com.au
